The popular Kenting National Park (www.ktnp.gov.tw) was established in 1982 and is Taiwan's only tropical national park. It features an extraordinary mix of mountains, forests, lakes, sand dunes, beaches, and coral reefs along with large stretches of agricultural land offering visitors a fascinating view of typical Taiwanese rural life. The park has a number of natural attractions including the exotically named Valley of the Hanging Banyans, Labyrinth Forest and Resting Ape's Cliff.

Must sees include the 435 hectare Kenting Forest Recreation Area for its magnificent botanic gardens and hypnotic limestone caves. At Jialeshui, be sure to visit the 2.5 kilometre stretch of coastline, famous for its amazing rock formations including President Nixon’s Nose, Seafrog Rock and the Butcher’s Block. The Taiwanese themselves consider Jialeshui to be one of the best places to find the freshest and finest seafood dishes with its abundance of tropical fish, lobsters and sea life, so make a point of tucking in to the local cuisine.
